2010 Finale

The finale for 2010 would have to be this all white jacket for a 3-4 yr old child. Made of all the lace pieces from previous projects. It is fully lined with white flanelette for extra warmth & embellished with special buttons & fancy stitches. There are some pieces of lace handkerchiefs & even the word "Love" has been embroidered onto one sleeve. Every time you look at this jacket something new appears....I personally love the scalloped hemline & sleeve edges which have been bound in white 100% cotton for strength & long life. This would be perfect for a wedding or just over jeans to keep the cold at bay.

The last before Christmas.

Here is a red heart hat, top & cream bloomers. They look just lovely on my model "Honey". She is ready for a party!

Here is Shyann dressed for a Christening with cream voile, lace & pearls all smocked onto this pretty romper. The ankles, sleeves & neckline all feature the same pearls & the smocking has been done in #8 DMC cream. I have added cream ribbons to the sleeves & neckline as a final trim.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my loyal & dedicated customers, both new & return, for their patronage throughout the year. Take care during the holiday period & please come visit me again.

The Pastor's Shirt..

Here is a gift to our local Pastor - made of Merry Christmas fabric & embellished with green Christmas tree's & red buttons to reflect the season..... Merry Christmas to all.

Christmas Red

Recently a lady chose this gorgeous little set for a newborn baby who arrived this month in the USA. A fitting gift in the traditional colour of red & white. The bub will be snug & warm in this smocked viyella long sleeved set during the winter Christmas months in the Northern hemisphere.

A delightful Dress

Here is my little Grand-daughter modelling the latest dress. So pretty in pale blue gingham with colonial flowers & vines throughout the smocking & there is a matching bubble for the younger sister worked with the same design.

Another Christmas Tree Idea

Thankyou to the wonderful Grace Lister in the UK who sent me her instructions & pattern for this pretty decorative ball. I chose to do this one from fancy stitches on my sewing machine & it has been put together on the machine also with pinked edges. These balls are beautiful worked with ribbon embroidery or fancywork stitches & blanket stitched together by hand but for speed I have done mine on the sewing machine. This one has 6cm segments to hang on the tree.

Nice & Bright

This little set for a 12 month old girl will look divine on her. Made of 100% cotton with bright lady beetles all over & the black & white tiny spotted insert for contrast on the dress & around the brim of the smocked mopsy hat. Who would have imagined that black on a baby would look very nice but I think you will agree this is just beautiful. The smocking has been done with red, black & white DMC #8 thread & I have added some broderie anglaise laces to highlight the skirt area.

Almost Twins!

Look what arrived today - knitted rompers for my two babies - one is 15" & the other 20". Don't they look adorable. Alice knitted the larger one & she is from the USA & Doris knitted the smaller one & she is from the UK - opposite ends of the world brought together by my two little babies... Thankyou ladies, I love them.

Gorgeous Lime Green Dress

This turned out to be a delight - in a size 2 & made of cool poly cotton which is crush resistent & looks so fresh & vibrant. It is from the AS&E 'Sherbet Fizz'.. thankyou again to a wonderful magazine...

Embroidered Jacket

This sweet pink fleecy jacket has been in my basket to finish for some time. I have embroidered a trailing vine of flowers all around the fronts & to a peak down the back. I chose a nice bright floral lining to finish it off & matching ribbon ties to complete the item.

Pink Dupion Gown

Isn't this the prettiest little gown? All dupion silk with full smocked bodice & feint lemon grub roses across the bodice & around the scalloped hemline. Finished off with light coffee coloured guipure laces. The "baby" who wears this will look just adorable.

My New Addition

Just arrived today is my new blonde haired 'Quinn' who was sculpted by the world renown Tamie Yarie. At just 10 inches long she is a perfect twin for my 'Lil Love' who sucks her thumb. Aren't they adorable. I have named the new addition Daisy!

Beary Merry Christmas!

I love teddy bears & here is a Christmas one. He measures 53cm x 60cm. These wall hangings can become family heirlooms & used year after year to decorate the walls & give a Christmas feeling. Why not get busy now & you will have a couple all ready for this coming Christmas season.

Christmas Wall Hanging

Time to dig out those Christmas decorations & dust them off. This is one I made a couple of years ago & it is as bright as ever. Sun bonnet Sue pattern & I have added red Christmas Greetings. These are so easy to make & add that wonderful festive atmosphere to your home. It measures 40cm x 50cm.

Gorgeous in Gold.

Something different - Gold rayon crocheted bodice & gold dupion silk skirt with pin tucks & rich cream guipure lace along the hemline. What a pretty little dress this has turned out to be...

What a lovely idea for a Christmas gift - a tissue box cover made with pretty fabrics in the Christmas theme... another idea for the festive season which will be here very soon.

Pearls & Batiste

This is the latest pretty design on a romper. Pearls & tiny grub roses complete the handwork. I first saw this pattern in an AS&E magazine some time ago & just loved the way it sits around the neckline. It would be pretty done on pink silk I am sure.

Another One!

Here is the cutest little Christmas Bell, made from scraps of fabric. This will look so lovely on the tree... time to get busy girls, Christmas is just around the corner...and the Grand children just love decorating the tree with Nanny's new trinkets!

Christmas is Coming!

Decided it is time to make some pretty little decorations for the Christmas tree - here is a smocked ball, the first of which I have used red cotton fabric & white #8 DMC thread to work the smocking stitches. Very effective. The next one I plan on using silk fabric with some gold DMC thread & pearls. It should sparkle on Christmas morning!

Fuchia "Fairy" ensemble.

Here is the cutest little ensemble of headband, bloomers & dress resembling a Fuschia in bloom. How fitting for the little 10 inch Fairy that will wear it. This is made of dupion silk in mint green for the leaves & fuchia for the flower...

Delicate & dainty

Isn't this adorable - taken from an issue of AS&E the original gown was named "Milestone" but I have designed a white romper which is perfect for this pattern as well. Done in White batiste with pearls & soft grub roses in pink & light lilac....

Broderie Anglaise Ensemble

I found several coloured broderie anglaise pieces of fabric in my vast 30 year stash & decided they needed to be made into clothing. Here is the first Bishop style in a beautiful butter coloured lemon with matching laces. It would fit a newborn baby or maybe up to 3 months. There will be apricot, light green, white & pale blue once they are all made up. So light & cool for our hot summer months, which aren't that far away.

White silk with Pink smocking

Here is my Tiny Sleeper 'baby' dressed in another white silk gown, bonnet & bloomers with white guipure hemline lace & pink smocking. I am putting a box together with over 20 sets to go to the USA for the lovely ladies over there to dress their little premmie babies. These smocked gowns & bonnets are the perfect pattern for these little 'babies' & fit the shoulders exactly. It is hard to believe that they are only 12 inches long! I am sure the ladies will love the goodies when they arrive.

Little Boy Blue!

Doesn't "Tiny Sleeper" look divine? I liked this real baby pattern & decided to reduce the size down to fit this 12 inch baby. I just love this set.

Mackay Doll Show

What a fabulous time we had at the Mackay Doll Show at the weekend. It was extremely well organised by Betty & her team of wonderful women who made us feel so welcome. There were 48 stalls selling everything from porcelain dolls & greenware to reborn babies & glass beads for the knitting ladies who knit the teeny clothes for the 1/2 dolls. There was lovely variety & something for everyone. Such a shame it was only one day & many of the visitors were disappointed as they wanted to come back on the Sunday! The picture at the right is me having a wonderful time.....

Off to the UK..

Here are 2 little outfits for a lovely young lady in the UK who has bought another couple of baby's for her collection. She has chosen the colours & pearls to match & added my new line of crochet shoes. Christina & Trista are wonderful little models for these smocked outfits.

Perfect in Pink!

I have a passion for pink fabric & here are another couple of examples - both made from the same piece of embroidered pink fabric. To ensure the best cut showing the scalloped hemline I have cut the dresses from the bottom section of the fabric & used the top pieces for the bloomers underneath. They have come up beautifully & I am sorry there is no more of this material left as it is so pretty. This was sent to me from the USA a few weeks ago. The preemie baby "Christina" is wearing matching pink silk shoes & the larger "Luca" baby will have a pair also, when I get a few spare minutes to make them!!

"Tiny Sleeper"

Here is my latest addition to the nursery. This sculpt is named "Tiny Sleeper" & she is by Dawn Donofrio. She is a preemie & I specifically chose blonde micro-rooted hair for her little sleeping face. She has just left the USA for her long journey to Oz. Isn't she gorgeous?

Beautiful Blue

There is nothing more beautiful for draping than voile & here is a lovely little set for a toddler in pale blue voile with a touch of pink in the Bishop neckline, sleeves & bonnet smocking. Such a cool fabric for hot summer days & there are matching bloomers.

Lovely Baby Luca

My latest dark haired baby arrived this week & isn't she just adorable... the ever popular Luca sculpt by Elly Knoops. A favourite of thousands of doll collectors throughout the world. I fell in love with the dark brown hair as it is so much like my youngest son's hair when he was born.... thick & dark. She hasn't a name yet, can anyone think of something appropriate for her please??

Shoes - large & small!!

Because of the many doll sculpts & their huge variety of sizes I have been very busy with the crochet hook, as you can see. These tiny shoes range from 3 inches long to 1 inch long - aren't they cute? We reborn lovers just have to have shoes & booties for our 'babies'. These were made of silk thread & really compliment little smocked or crochet dresses....no more cold tootsies..

Beautiful in Blue

This beautiful set far outstripped my expectations - it has turned out to be so delicate & elegant. The fabric is pale blue striped English Robia Voile & spectacular is close to how it looks. On a small premmie 'baby' it certainly does look very fitting of a Prince or Princess.. I have smocked the bonnet, both sleeves, both legs & the neckline of my own custom pattern. Fastening at the back it gives a lovely view from the front.

Two Little Babies

Aren't these the cutest little babies - one is 8 inches long & a full porcelain & the other is only 10 inches long & she is the tiny Luca sculpt by Elly Knoops & is exactly the same as her big sister in the 22 inch length. The pretty blue fabric is an English Robia Voile & is a mere 4 inches long from neckline to hemline which is just below the nappy. The other set is a lilac gingham, both smocked with the Bishop necklines. These two are being prepared for the Doll Show next month & will be on offer for sale.

Pink clipped voile is so soft & this set looks divine...

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Pretty as a Picture.

It has been a busy few days making clothing for one of my clients & here is a portion of the next order to go out. Voile is such a delicate & soft fabric for the Bishop gowns & it drapes beautifully. An ideal fabric for Christening gowns although these are short gowns, bloomers & bonnet. The centre set is made of pink gingham in the same style. Don't the 'girls' look lovely displaying the clothing...
